SKOPJE MAIN SQUARE

Known as "Square Macedonia". At the center a monument named "Warrior on a horse" is set, representing the Macedonian warrior Alexander the Great.

STONE BRIDGE

STONE BRIDGE

Situated on the river Vardar. It was built in the 6th century and since it is located in center of the city, it represents a connection between the Square of Macedonia and the Turkish bazaar.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CENTER

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CENTER

It is a memorial to the holocaust of the 7,148 Jews from Macedonia and the history of the Jews on the Balkans. It was officially opened on 10th of March, 2011.

CITY THEATER

CITY THEATER

The building is designed to resemble the one that crumbled away in the devastating Skopje earthquake of 1963. The large auditorium has 750 seats and the small one around 250, which is more than the original building held.

CHURCH SAINT CLEMENT OF OHRID

CHURCH SAINT CLEMENT OF OHRID

Or the so-called "Gathering Temple" is an Orthodox church, situated in the center of the city, on the right side of the river Vardar. It was first opened in the year of 1990.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF MACEDONIA

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF MACEDONIA

It features more than 6000 artifacts from prehistory to the Middle Ages. Some of the exhibits presented to the public for the first time include a copy of Alexander the Great’s sarcophagus, and a reconstructed Roman chariot from the 2nd century.

SKOPJE FORTRESS

SKOPJE FORTRESS

Also known as Fortress "Kale", has walls standing from the 15th century. The fortress is visible on the left side of the river Vardar, and it provides an excellent view over the city of Skopje.

GATE MACEDONIA

GATE MACEDONIA

The arch is dedicated to the 20 years of Macedonian independence and its outer surface is covered in 193 m2 of reliefs carved in marble, depicting scenes from the history of Macedonia. It also contains interior rooms, one of which has a function of state-owned souvenir shop, as well as elevators and stairs providing public access to the roof, allegedly intended as space for weddings.

THE OLD TRAIN STATION

THE OLD TRAIN STATION

It was finished in 1940/41. The clock on the front wall stopped at 5:17 at the day of the earthquake. It is now a city museum.

Built in memory of Mother Theresa (a catholic nun, winner of a Nobel peace prize).

MUSEUM OF THE MACEDONIAN STRUGGLE

It was officially opened on September 8th, 2011, for the 20th anniversary of the Macedonian independence. The exhibit covers the period from the beginning of the resistance movement against the Ottoman rule, until the declaration of independence from Yugoslavia on 8 September 1991.

THE FEUDAL TOWER

THE FEUDAL TOWER

Is right next to the house of the Macedonian Army. It is a special type of building since it also served as a military tower and a defense structure.

DAUT - PASHA SPA

DAUT - PASHA SPA

It was built in the 15th century as a public spa. It can be found at the beginning of the old Turkish bazaar and since 1948 it has been adapted into an art gallery.

OLD TURKISH BAZAAR

Here you can see plenty of guilds, old-fashioned businesses, the 'Bezisten', the 'Chifte-amam' and many more old buildings.

THE AQUEDUCT

THE AQUEDUCT

Built out of stone bricks, has 55 arcs each of them supported by columns. It served for bringing water to the ancient city of Skupi.

Named "Filip II of Macedon" is a multipurpose stadium, most often used for soccer games, but also concerts and other important happenings.

Found on top of the mountain Vodno. It is made out of steel and is 67m high and 46m wide. It was build to celebrate the 2000 years since the birth of Christianity. It is the world's tallest structure of this kind.

ROPEWAY TO MILLENIUM CROSS

Goes straight to the top of the mountain Vodno where the "Millennium Cross" is set. It has a spectacular view over the capital city of Macedonia, Skopje.

THE MACEDONIAN FALLEN HEROES

Located in the park "Woman fighter" across from the General Assembly. At the centar of the fountain there is a sculpture of Prometheus.

CANYON MATKA

CANYON MATKA

It has an area of about 5000ha and it is situated at about 17km southwest of Skopje. Vrelo Cave is located nearby, and was listed as one of the top 77 natural sites in the world in the New7Wonders of Nature project.

THE ART BRIDGE

THE ART BRIDGE

With 29 sculptures standing on it, 14 on each side and one in the middle. It connects the Central City Mall and the round building of the Prosecution.

ORTHODOX CHURCH "ST. SPAS"

ORTHODOX CHURCH "ST. SPAS"

Can be found in the old part of the city since the 16th century. The grave of the most important Macedonian revolutionist (Gotse Delcev) of the 20th century is in the front yard of the church.

It is in the old bazaar since the 16th century. In the past it was used as an old Turkish spa for the citizens.

CITY PARK

CITY PARK

The perfect place for taking a walk, resting and relaxing, close to the center of the city. In the park can be seen a couple of lakes and diverse vegetation.
